Words of Affirmation

Write a poem. It doesn’t even have to be good. Let the kids have fun with this!

Write letters. A letter written by your own hand is a rare gift these days.

Tell her what you love about her. Just take any empty spaghetti sauce sized jar and fill it with slips of paper that say why you love her.

Acts of Service

Do the dishes and the laundry. Seriously, I feel like I’m a whole dishwasher load behind these days.

Cook her favorite meal.

Bake her favorite dessert. Nothing says lovin’ like something from the oven.

Plant some flowers or veggies. This is a gift that will stand the test of time, especially if you water them for her!

Pick up take out (or send delivery if your mom is remote) from her favorite local mom and pop restaurant. Bonus points for supporting local, small businesses during this time of crisis!

Quality Time

Play her favorite game.

Let her pick a movie for the family.

Give her some quality time ALONE. Most moms are spending a LOT of quality time with their kiddos these days. So, alone time is valuable.

Receiving Gifts

Frame a picture.

Make her a photo album or collage (print or digital).

Decorate some Tea Towels or a white apron with Sharpies. This can be as easy as you make it. Pick up a bundle of tea towels (plain white towels in the kitchen section) from your local big box store and let the kids decorate them for mom. You could print off designs she’s love and have the kids trace them or even write out family favorite recipes.

Purchase a gift certificate for her favorite local shop. Bonus points for supporting local, small businesses during this time of crisis!

Physical Touch

Plan a fancy bath for her (clean the tub and include bath salts or bubbles, candlelight, and soft music).

Coupons for foot or back massages. But you actually have to let her redeem them!

Coupon for her regular or a locally recommended masseuse. Bonus points for supporting local, small businesses during this time of crisis!

So how are you going to honor the mothers in your life this year! I’d love to hear your ideas!

Hey, Moms… If you’re feeling less than loved this Mother’s Day, remember, your worth doesn’t come from your mothering!

  1. This is so sweet and so true. I reminded my family the other day that Mother’s day was around the corner and although it may look different it should still be celebrated.
