Thrilled to have my dear friend Stephanie Adams back again this week to cap of her trio of insightful posts! This week she wrestles with Omniscient. Let’s give her a little extra love because there is more to this word than you might have ever imagined!
Today we will look at Omniscient –
Merriam Webster defines Omniscient as knowing everything; unlimited understanding or knowledge; possessed of universal or complete knowledge
“O LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You understand my thought from afar. You scrutinize my path and my lying down, And are intimately acquainted with all my ways. Even before there is a word on my tongue, Behold, O LORD, You know it all. You have enclosed me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is too high, I cannot attain to it…For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth; Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them.”
Psalm 139: 1-6; 13-16 (NASB)
God knows it all. He knows you better than you know yourself.
There is nothing that surprises Him about you, because He knew it all before you were even born…
* He knew the day He would form you in your mother’s womb
* The day you would arrive in your mother’s arms
* The color of your eyes, the curls cascading from your head, the freckles on your nose, and the quirky way you smile
He knew before the foundation of the world every circumstance of your life…
* The skinned knee when you fell from your bike
* The tears when little Susie took your doll
* The important test you would take that would determine your career path
* The day you heard the doctor deliver bad news
* The fears, tears, and joys that await you each and every day
And He knows the day He will call you home to Heaven – the very moment your eyes will behold His glory.
He knows how each and every circumstance will turn out in your life. He can see around the corners where you can not…and He is waiting to meet you in those moments.
As David said in Psalm 139, “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me”!
