Masterpiece Monday - Kaylyn Cobb

I’m excited to introduce you to Kaylyn Cobb and Green Fields Farm in Central Texas where she and her family have turned ranching into a MASTERPIECE vocation that glorifies God. I hope you’ll enjoy her story and shop their products. I met her at a local farmer’s market and bought the most delicious sausage I’ve ever eaten!

1) What special skills and abilities has God given you? How did you discover them? How are you using them to serve His creation?

God has given us a passion to steward His creation and join Him in regenerating it. We first discovered this calling after listening to a sermon by Dr. Timothy Keller entitled “Can Faith Be Green?” It made us aware that, as Christians, we should be the most caring of our earth out of anyone if we believe our God created it. This convicted us and sparked a desire to farm in a way that honors God’s creation. It requires skills of observation, flexibility, humility, tenacity, creativity, to name a few. God has been gracious to equip us with what we need each step.

2) How do you ensure that you always give God the glory in your vocation?

We are in need of God’s grace every single day as we often fall short of bringing Him glory. We try to remind ourselves and each other of the work that Christ completed on our behalf, and that we can bring Him the most glory by enjoying Him!

3) What MESSY struggles have you overcome along the way?

Taking the less traveled path of regenerative agriculture has its share of challenges. Much of it is completely new to us and we’ve made mistakes along the way. It is also challenging because it is not mainstream, so we at times feel a bit isolated in it. We are also building awareness and our customer base from scratch, so it has been a struggle to gain enough traction and sales to keep afloat. Thankfully, the land has responded well to our management and we can see the improvements and healing that is occurring.

4) Do you have any special MEMORIES you call on when you need to boost your confidence?

God is so gracious to remind us regularly when we look around the farm and see the increase in LIFE on the farm, that He is faithful in redeeming His creation and restoring life and health. We also are encouraged when we remember that God is our provision. He knows what we need and will always provide even when it’s difficult to see how that will be possible.

5) What is your definition of success in your area of expertise?

We envision a farm that glorifies God by living life in God’s design and grace. Creation is restored to health, abundance of life, clean water and beauty. We see relationships of open communication, respect, trust and encouragement. Our dream is the “farm family” will grow and multiple people will be connected back to nature’s beauty, nourished by healthy foods, partner in learning to care for God’s creation and encouraged by God’s grace.

Green Fields Farm is a regenerative farm providing Central Texas with pasture-raised meats, including grass-finished beef & lamb, and pasture-raised pork & eggs. Our family formed Green Fields Farm out of a passion to produce nutrient-dense foods in a way that heals the land.

We focus on healthy soil, which leads to healthy food and healthy people. We have come to the belief that how we manage our soil, plants and animals has a direct impact on the physical and mental health of those who consume the products of our farming choices.
